So werden in Italien Chilis bezeichnet. In der s\u00fcditalienischen Region werden die scharfen Schoten in gro\u00dfem Stil angebaut, denn sie lieben die Sonne und entwickeln hier ihr brennendes Aroma besonders gut. Wie verwurzelt der Import aus S\u00fcdamerika inzwischen in der kalabrischen Kultur ist, zeigen auch die vielen Chiliz\u00f6pfe, die an Hausw\u00e4nden und \u00fcber die Gassen gespannten Leinen trocknen. Frische Chilischoten geben ihr den scharfen Kick. Aber die Peperoncini machen auch vor S\u00fc\u00dfspeisen nicht halt: Mutige Einheimische und Urlauber trauen sich an Eis mit feinen Chilist\u00fcckchen heran.
